Deploy an agent to Slack and your team can work with it where they already talk — ask questions, get scheduled reports posted to a channel, and assign it tasks.
This page is about putting an agent in Slack. If you only want agents to read or send Slack messages as part of their work, connect Slack as an app instead.

Add an agent to Slack

1

Open the agent

In your project’s Agents view, choose the agent and select Add to Slack.
2

Connect your Slack workspace

Sign in to Slack and approve the app for your workspace. If your workspace requires admin approval for new apps, the connection shows as pending until an admin approves it.
3

Add the bot to channels

Pick the channels the agent should be in. For private channels, type /invite @<bot name> from inside the channel.
4

Mention it

In any channel the bot is in, mention it to ask a question or hand it a task.

Basic and advanced Slack apps

  • Basic — the agent joins your workspace through the shared SureThing bot. The fastest way to get started.
  • Advanced Slack app — the agent runs as its own Slack app with its own name and avatar, so it shows up as a distinct teammate.

Managing or removing the agent

From the agent’s Slack settings you can add or remove channels, connect another workspace, or disconnect from Slack. Removing the bot from Slack stops it from responding there; the agent keeps working in SureThing.
